We're seeking a Chair of TWAM Enterprises

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is seeking a Chair of TWAM Enterprises to provide independent leadership and strategic vision for this newly established Trading Company. As Chair you will provide strong and creative commercial leadership and support the commercial development of TWAM Enterprises to ensure that it can generate the income to help sustain the nine museums and archives managed by TWAM.

With strong commercial and financial management experience, and a track record of entrepreneurial achievement in a business focused environment, you will be able to support and encourage the Trading team in their roles, whilst constructively challenging their advice and decisions. TWAM’s trading activity currently turns over £815,000 p.a. and, as Chair, you will help increase this to £927,000 by 2022.

You will have excellent chairing skills and an understanding of legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of directorship and the roles of boards. You will be able to discharge non-executive responsibilities (such as audit, governance and risk management skills) as well as organise, coordinate and follow through on key decisions; manage competing or differing views, and positively challenge to achieve the desired outcome.

Remuneration

There is no remuneration for this post but reasonable expenses for travel will be paid.

Terms

The Chair (and board members) will serve a three-year term to be eligible for re-appointment for two additional terms.
