Museum callout for South Shields FC FA Vase win memorabilia

Curators at South Shields Museum are seeking quality memorabilia from South Shields FC’s recent FA Vase 4-0 Wembley victory against Cleethorpes to add to the museum’s permanent collection.

They would ideally like a match programme, match tickets, and other items like placards or banners. The items must be in very good condition.

The keepsakes will not go on immediate display but will become part of the museum collection that will be preserved for generations to come.

Geoff Woodward, Museum Manager said:

“It was a fantastic and historic result for the town when South Shields FC won the FA vase at Wembley; it is important that we capture this significant sporting achievement in the museum collection.

“We’re interested in finding out what people have; if anyone can part with their souvenirs please email us with a photo of the item they are willing to donate.”

Anyone who thinks they may have a suitable item or just something unique or interesting from the game then please take a picture and email it to Helen Vasey, Assistant Keeper at South Shields Museum on helen.vasey@twmuseums.org.uk .

Footballer David Foley who scored two goals in the match is represented by a tiny LEGO® figure in the current Little Landmarks exhibition at the museum.

Little Landmarks features ten building from South Shields recreated in miniature from LEGO®, with tiny South Shields celebrities represented too.
