Help us raise £12,000 to support the people in our region who need it most. Please give today.

Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums (TWAM) is aiming to raise £12,000 as part of The Big Give #ChristmasChallenge22 campaign from 29 November - 6 December.

The money will enable TWAM to provide a warm welcome and targeted support for people in the North East, including:

  • Delivering enriching museum activities for isolated older people living in care. 
  • Providing inspiring free museum sessions for local families. 
  • Welcoming refugees and connecting them to a caring community.

From 12 noon on Tuesday 29 November to 12 noon on Tuesday 6 December, every £1 donated by the public will be doubled thanks to match funding.

Keith Merin, Director of TWAM, said:

“Museums make people feel proud of where they live and more connected to each other. For over 20 years, our community programmes have responded to the needs of people in the North East. But you can help us do even more. Your donation will enable us to provide a warm welcome and inspirational museum sessions for those in our region who need it most.

Museums can make a big difference

Lots of people in the North East are facing huge challenges. Inequality is increasing. The population is ageing. Building a new life here is hard for refugees and asylum seekers. The cost-of-living crisis is making these problems worse but we know that museums can make a big difference. 

Human connection improves wellbeing and helps people to face their challenges. Our museums play an important part to make sure everyone feels welcome and connected in the North East.
