Support us

Your support ensures art and heritage remain at the heart of the North East,  which means we can:

  • Provide a warm welcome to everyone, removing barriers caused by inequality and discrimination
  • Care for, protect and share stories of North East heritage
  • Offer spaces and activities to support wellbeing to create a happier, healthier society
  • Ignite the imaginations of children and young people
  • Raise awareness of the climate emergency and encourage our visitors to take action.

There are lots of ways you can support our museums and galleries. Choose the method that works best for you from the options below.

Become a Supporter

Payroll giving

Communities - two people laughing

Giving directly from your salary is easy and tax effective. Your donation is taken from your pay before tax is deducted, which means you save and even small donations go further.

For example, if you agree to give £10 a month from your gross salary. This regular gift will actually only cost you £8 (at the 20% basic rate of tax) or £6 (at the 40% rate of tax) yet Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums will still get the full £10, because HMRC will make up the difference.

If you would like to register for Payroll Giving and donate to Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums, please follow these simple steps:

  • Check with your employer that they offer payroll giving scheme to their staff.
  • Alternatively, search for your employer on the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) register or call their helpline on 03000 123 000 and they can check for you.
  • If your employer is not already contracted with this scheme, they can register for free by downloading an application pack from the CAF website or telephoning 03000 123 000.

Once your employer is contracted, all you need to do is complete a CAF Donor Instruction Form (available from the CAF website) and give it to your employer.

Leaving a Gift in Your Will

Girl at Segedunum

Our galleries, museums, and heritage sites hold a special place in people’s hearts and memories. Once your family have been provided for, consider including a bequest to a venue which has meant a lot to you and your family.

Help us to secure the future of the venues and collections you and your family are passionate about. Leaving a gift in your will to Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums will help us to protect the stories of the North East for the future.

You do not have to tell us if you have left a gift in your Will, and you are free to change your mind at any time. However, it would be helpful if you could let us know your intentions. This enables us to thank you for your support, and keep you up to date with our work.
